New Quay are fast emerging as hot favourites for the First Division title as they gained their eighth win of the season against Dewi Stars. Despite their honest endeavour the home side failed to match their opponents sharpness but were unlucky to fall behind when Lee Perkins fortuitously turned in a cross from Chris Mousley.
"After gaining the upper hand the visitors proceeded to dominate the proceedings and wrapped up the points with two goals from Dafydd Evans.
Champions St Dogmaels stayed in touch with an away win against an improving Llandysul side who gained a two goal advantage with goals from Rhodri Jones and Huw Jones.
To their credit the Saints came back positively and turned the game around with a goal apiece for Chris Thomas, Johnny James from the penalty spot, Simon Wilson and Lee Ladd.
It was a disappointing afternoon for Maesglas as they narrowly went under at Crannog. After Chris Welch had given the home side the lead towards the end of the first half Dominic Williams pulled the visitors back on level terms after the turnaround before Jordan Jones settled the issue with a well struck effort.
In what has been for them a disappointing season Cardigan grafted a much needed win at Aberporth. Gary Lawrence led the way with a well worked hat-trick with Simon Jones grabbing the fourth. In reply a Neil Hardman effort and an own goal accounted for the homesters efforts.
In the Central Wales Cup Second Round three goals during a ten minute period in the second half gave Ffostrasol victory over Llanybydder.
In what was on the whole a drab encounter Louis Evans turned well to give the visitors a second minute lead and for long periods it seemed that the one goal would be enough to clinch the tie.
The Wanderers eventually found their shooting boots and some thirteen minutes from the end Geraint Davies headed down a Dafydd Evans cross for Mathew Stapleton to score. Within a couple of minutes Aled Davies shot home their second before Jonathan Jones rounded it off after the Llanybydder defence had failed to clear another Geraint Davies cross.
In the same competition Lampeter were forced into extra time by Montgomery League side Bettws but secured their passage with goals from Osian Williams, James Gudgeon and Mark Wilkins. |
